Chinese leader Xi Jinping has pledged to intensify the anti-corruption campaign in China, targeting industries like finance, energy, and infrastructure. Xi stated that China will address “hidden risks” by increasing punishment for bribery and will focus on combating corruption in power-concentrated, capital-intensive, and resource-rich sectors. The campaign aims to tackle corruption at all levels, including high-ranking officials as well as lower-level cadres. State-owned enterprises and the pharmaceutical sector will also be targeted. This initiative comes after the removal of military figures and the ousting of a former top business leader for alleged crimes related to corruption.
