When she started taking a weight loss medication in November 2021, a woman named Macarena Khoury experienced significant results. Prior to starting the medication, Khoury had a high BMI and constantly thought about food. However, the medication, known as Wegovy, helped her control her thoughts and reduce her food intake. With the help of regular exercise, Khoury was able to lose a total of 80 pounds in 10 months. Unfortunately, she had to stop taking the medication due to a change in insurance coverage, causing her to regain 40 pounds. This situation is not unique to Khoury, as many people who have success with weight loss drugs are losing access to them due to limited insurance coverage.
