Ash Barty is set to make a comeback to tennis after a two-year break at this year’s invitational doubles event in Wimbledon. The 28-year-old Australian player will team up with her former doubles partner Casey Dellacqua, with whom she reached four Grand Slam doubles finals, including the 2013 Wimbledon final. Barty retired from the sport in March 2022 at the age of 25, when she was ranked world No. 1 and had just won 25 out of 26 matches. Her decision to retire came after winning the Australian Open in 2021, becoming the second Indigenous woman to win Wimbledon. She had previously taken a break from tennis in 2014-2016, during which she played professional cricket. Barty has also pursued golf since her retirement, playing in Pro-Am events.
