Health authorities in Argentina are planning to inspect and quarantine a cargo ship in response to a crew member showing symptoms of mpox. A spokesperson for the country’s health ministry stated that the border health service would conduct the inspection and had been in contact with the crew. The ship, which had previously stopped in Santos, Brazil, is currently anchored on a river near San Lorenzo. Medical personnel will board the ship to determine whether the crew member’s symptoms are consistent with mpox. If confirmed, the entire crew will be quarantined until further test results are available. Other Latin American countries have also implemented surveillance measures due to the mpox outbreak in Africa.
